Entrance Requirements: Foundation Certificate or equivalent. Students need to have demonstrated their aptitude and shown a capacity for empathic engagement and personal insight in order to continue to the Diploma level.
Attendance requirements: 320 hours (46 days) made up from attendances at sections of the three main course blocks (Generally held in October, February and May).
Written requirements: 18 units of Distance Learning plus personal development and placement related reports as set out in the course handbook
Placement: Supervised practicum of 150 client hours
Personal therapy: 40 hours
Peer learning: 30 hours plus project
Length of training: 2-3 years
Application process: Students should complete an application form and will be interviewed. If the student has not completed the Foundation Certificate with Tariki Trust evidence of prior learning will be required.
Progression: Students who successfully complete the Diploma in Counselling may progress to the Diploma in Psychotherapy provided that they have demonstrated aptitude for in depth work.
